Message from Carole:
Sincere thanks to everyone who came to our Open Day on Sunday 27th September. We had loads of people come along, we had a brilliant day with loads of sunshine and they came along to enjoy all the stalls and games and attractions that we had, all undertaken by our incredible volunteers. Everyone pulled forward on the day and everyone enjoyed meeting the horses and we raised an amazing amount of £1885, which is brilliant. We have got some very expensive vet bills that we had no way of paying them, so thanks to everyone’s kindness and the volunteers’ hard work, hopefully we can start working on paying those bills off and go through the Winter which actually a chance of making it through the other side. So thank you to everybody.
On a foggy Sunday 27th September morning volunteers started to arrive from 7.30am. Volunteers then started setting up the stalls about 11am, ready for our visitor at 12 midday. A big thank you to Swithland Water for their donation of spring water and a cooler for the day, to Joan (Pee Wee toilet hire) for the use of a mobile loo, donations of artwork from Julie Bramley and Carole Warren, which were auctions off. Also a big thank you to everyone for supporting the Pablo’s Tombola which sold out and our raffle. Also on the day it was volunteer Gerry’s birthday, so we shared horsey his cake !
On Saturday 6th September we had our annual Sponsored Dog Walk “Waggin and Walkin” starting at The Rose and Crown Pub in Long Clawson, for a gentle 5km walk around Long Clawson. We had 9 walkers and 5 dogs which raised an amazing £580. Setting off about 12.15pm after the welcome, registration and a quick coffee , with glorious weather from the start! Volunteer Gerry wore his usual fancy dress which raised a few eyebrows!
We stopped for a couple of water breaks as the sun was hot and chatted our way around the beautiful village of Long Clawson. The walk took just over 1 hour and when we got back to the Crown & Plough, we were greeted by 2 magnificent horses. Thank youto the following for their support: Rosie with Sam, Chris with Maddie, Ady with Luna and Sue with Molly ( with Dan’s help )and Malcolm with Wolfie.
Everyone received a Doggie Goodie Bag, with special thanks to R and R Country store, Pets at Home and the Countrywide Stores in Melton and to Dave, for their kind and generous contributions to the Goodie Bags and their continued support.
Thank you to Chris Hall, of Hallmark resources, who recently undertook a bike ride from Lands end to John O’Groats, and incredible feat which raised £500 for Pablos – well done Chris. Chris is also very kind and has some of Pablos ponies living next to his unit and, with Karen, very kindly supplies the water for them, and helps to look after them.

We now have our own Pablo’s Christmas Cards. Artist Julie Bramley gifted us 4 paintings ( which were auctioned at the Open Day ) of Cherry, Winston, Kas and Bayler and Little Mo. It is wonderful to have our own horses on the cards and they are beautiful!
Christmas Cards are in packs of 8 cards, with 4 different designs at only £5.
