Well what a mixed bag of weather we’ve had in July, starting off as a sizzler and finishing cold and wet! We are pleased, however, that during July we have found 5 fantastic local foster homes for 5 rescued ponies. The 5 ponies were enduring a terrible life up North of England, being chained to railings and treated badly on a daily basis. The ponies were rescued and transferred down to the midlands area. The ponies are in their new homes with their lovely new owners who are taking things slowly with them, and all are coming along really well.
Fundraising continues, with volunteers holding a stall at the local Dog’s Trust open day. Despite the bad wet weather, the stall made £150 which was excellent. Thank you to Dog’s Trust and the visitors for their support and for their hard work on the day. We are always looking for ways to raise funds as most of the horses and ponies are the sanctuary are old, so it is hard to find homes for them so they will stay at the sanctuary, if you can offer us any help or support, please get in touch.
We are holding our Open Day on Sunday 27th September at our yard in Long Clawson, and we hope to see you there. Also, before that, we are holding our Annual Sponsored Dog Walk on Sunday 6th September, a gentle 5km walk and every dog will receive a goodie bag to take home! To register and receive your sponsorship pack please contact Sue Grogan on 0116 253 2064 or firstname.lastname@example.org. This is great fundraiser, with plenty of fun to be had.
We are very sad to announce the passing of Jubail, our retired thoroughbred racehorse, who was quite famous in his prime. After his racing career was over (due to a foot injury) he was kept as a companion horse and when his companion was sold on there was no room on the yard for him, so he came to live at Pablos. Jubail was such a gentleman, and had such a relaxed nature. He was a popular horse, both with the volunteers and his horsey friends at the yard and will be missed. He passed over at the grand old age of 31. Bless you Jubail.
