New gate

New gate

We would like to give a special thank you to Emily and her team from MARS at Waltham (Waltham Centre for Pet Nutrition (WCPN)) for spending the day with us on 10th July. The team did an amazing job of creosoting the fence rails and posts, supplying a brand new gate for the small manège area, and for hardcoring 3 gate areas. Also thank you to Craig the builder who came down with the team to hang the gate. We would also like to give a huge thank you to Travis Perkins so very kindly donated all the wood. A fantastic result!

It’s not long now before our 3rd Open Day, which will be held on Sunday 24th August (bank holiday Sunday) at the main yard in Long Clawson. Everyone and their families are welcome, it’s free entry and a great day out. This year, there will be stalls and games, and we have palm reader, angel card reader. There will be a Reiki demonstration, and you can meet some of the horses and ponies in our care, and some of our wonderful volunteers. So we do hope that you can join us.

The repaired fence

The replaced fence

Our fix-it team have been busy over the past few weeks, and have replaced the fencing between two of the fields. As you can see, it was a big job and we’d like to give a big thank you to volunteers Gerry, Chris, Sue, Rosie, Mary , Sue and Steve (Dobbie) for all their help and a big thank you to Travis Perkins for donating all the rails, also thank you to all our friends in Melton who purchased items from the maintenance fundraising stall, as the money raised was used to buy a new field gate and new posts.

Huge thank yous go out to the following:  volunteers John, Jenny, Kirsty and Sue for holding a fundraising stall at the Melton Country Fair on Sunday 29th June which raised an amazing £432, to Monika Jansens for donating some hay and to Laura Richardson for delivering the hay, to Amie Barncore from Bingham College for holding a sponsored silence which raised £33, to the ALS students at Brooksby College in Melton for their donation of £69 and to Ken and Ann for all their car booting. To volunteers Julia and Pat who held a stall at the Barrow St Market which raised £160, to Pets at Home at Fosse Park for letting us hold a store collection which raised £62 and thanks to Julia, Sue and Kirsty.

We would like to appeal for special foster homes for some of our special rescues. We have horses and ponies available but they must be rehomed in their pairs. We have lots of pairs (and 3s) that are looking to move on to their next loving home together, and if you would like more information please contact Carole.
