Hi Everyone

A fantastic night was had on Saturday 27th July , at our fundraising music night, “Only Schools and Horses” featuring the fantastic BasketCase, on at Tubes nightclub in Melton (1st floor suite). The night was spent dancing away to great songs from the 70’s and 80’s and we had some brilliant fancy dressed “pupils” and well done to everyone who won a prize. Hi Everyone

After such a hot week, at the weekend it looks like the “true” summer weather is now back – cold and wet! Over the past week all the fields have been topped and harrowed, after all the farmers have been working hard to get in their hay harvests they have found the time to fit us in.

It’s less than a week to go before our fundraising music night, “Only Schools and Horses” featuring the fantastic BasketCase, on Saturday 27th July at Tubes nightclub in Melton (1st floor suite).

“Only Schools and Horses” has an End of School Term theme, with prizes for the best dressed pupil and with songs from the 70′s and 80′s you’ll love BasketCase – you can check them out at https://www.facebook.com/BasketCaseGB.

We are very pleased to announce that Shane Mousely is to be the compare for the night and will be judging the “best dressed pupil” competition with great prizes to be won. Doors open at 9.00pm til 1.00am. We’d love to see you there.

We would like to say a big thank you to Mr Wassell for her donation, and to Sharon and Jeff for their kind donation of hay this week. We have another fundraising avenue of Jewellery Recycling Collection Bags. You just need to put in any old or unwanted gold, silver, costume jewellery and watches (even broken and damaged items), also any unwanted old/new foreign/UK banknotes. We have a good supply of bags and for more information please visit recyclingforgoodcauses.org and we have received our first cheque back for £34. We also have ink cartridge recycling bags, and this week received a cheque for £25, which amounts to a fantastic total of £377 over the past 2 years. We are also looking into recycling stamps. Please help to support these schemes as they are such a good way of helping to raise funds.

Our volunteers Chris and Sue will be holding a fundraising stall at Melton Mowbray market next Saturday, so if you are in Melton, please pop over and say hello and see if you can grab a bargain!

What a scorcher!

Cherry in the sunshine

Cherry in the sunshine

Hi Everyone

What a scorcher weekend we’ve just had and looks like it’s going to be with us for the next few weeks?!?! Bumblebee is still settling in well with the other horses and ponies, making new friends. We still have some super young ponies (all geldings) in care at the Sanctuary at the moment, all looking for suitable homes. All these have not had the best start in life and need the care and expertise of someone who is experienced in handling young ones to bring them on, as they all have the potential (and cheeky personalities) to make fantastic ponies. Please note that these ponies are not first ponies, as they do need an experienced foster home, so if you would like more information and to come and meet the available ponies, please get in touch with Carole.

Our volunteer Wendy has raised £95 through direct sales last week and took the Pablo’s New and Nearly New equine stall to Hosefest on Saturday 6th and raised a fantastic £120. A big thank you to Sarah Thorpe and the Hosefest committee for their continued support. Unfortunately, Wendy was unable to attend Rearsby Lodge show on Sunday and sends her apologies to everyone who expected the New and Nearly New Equine stall to be there. However, Wendy will be at the Buckminster show on Sunday 14th July and the Sutton Bonnington RC show on Sunday 28th July. If you are interested in what’s in stock at the moment, please contact Wendy direct.

R.E.I.N is a friendly Facebook group for horse lovers that like to get involved in fundraising and charitable events to help support animal charities and not for profit organisations. All the money raised goes to their chosen Charity of the Month, you can check them out onhttp://www.facebook.com/groups/R.E.I.N.ResourcesforEquinesInNeed/.

Also a few big thank you to car-booters Ken and Ann for holding car some car boot sales, to David for his kind donation of hay, to Tony for the lovely plaque for the New and Nearly New Equine stall.
