Hi Everyone
Hope you are all having a good Easter break and it’s lovely to see a bit of sunshine. Although it’s still very cold (apparently we’re having average temperatures for January!) it is lovely to feel a bit of sunshine on the skin. The horses and ponies have also been enjoying the moments of sunshine over the weekend, as it has been a particularly cold week. As regular readers are aware, the horses and ponies are due to go back on to their paddocks on 1st April, but due to the weather there is water still sitting on the fields and the grass hasn’t been able to grow, so unfortunately they are not allowed on to their fields. Once the weather picks up and dries out the fields, and the grass is able to grow they will be able to move back, until then they will have to remain in their Winter quarters on the yard. This does have an impact on financials of the Sanctuary as extra hay is needed to be purchased to keep the horses and ponies fed on the yard. If there is anyone who could help out with donating some hay to keep us going for a few more weeks, it would really be appreciated. Or if there is anyone out there who could hold a car-boot stall on our behalf, we could supply the goods to sell, it would really be appreciated. Please could you get in touch with Carole, if you think you would be able to help.

Our volunteer Wendy took the New and Nearly New Equine stall to B.R.R.A show at Blaby Mill and on Monday was at the Rearsby Riding Club at Brooksby . Over the two days an amazing £174.00 was raised. A big thank you to Linda Hudson and Sue O’Connell of Blaby Mill, Liz Atkins, and all the committee and members of Rearsby Riding Club for their support. Wendy will taking the New and Nearly New Equine stall to the Soar Valley Riding Club in Quorn on Sunday 7th April. (weather/ground permitting)
We would like to thank Mole Valley Feeds for inviting us to participate in their Open Day on Friday and Saturday. Volunteer John was there and Mole Valley staff offered to sponsor Moley (one of our ponies) if John would have his face painted. Not to miss an opportunity to raise funds, John rose to the challenge and had his face painted and the £20 sponsorship deal was won! Well done John.
