Charity Auction Success

Carole opening speech at the Charity Auction

Hi Everyone

Today, Sunday 25th November, was the day for the Charity Auction at the Hamilton Tennis Club, Melton Mowbray and we are pleased to report that it was a great success raising a fantastic £750!

The viewing of the 102 items started at 10.00am, and after a speech from Carole the auction set off into full swing at 12.30pm.  There was fierce competition with the bidding on some of the items, with the beautiful signed and limited edition of the framed print of the War Horse going for an amazing £125.   Other items already had pre-bids placed which started them off at an exciting pace.  A fun afternoon was had by all, with the free champagne raffle winning number being no. 8, and the name of the Big Pink Pig competition was correctly guessed!  As always, all the funds raised will be spent on the welfare of the horses and ponies.

Auction underway with Jon and helpers

A huge thank you to volunteer John for organising the event and to volunteers Mandy, Wendy and Jenny  for all their help on the day.  Also to everyone who donated such wonderful items, and to everyone who supported the event today – you’re all stars!

On Saturday morning at 8.20am, Carole had an interview for Radio Leicester.  During the interview Carole promoted the Charity Auction event, and the Sanctuary, and told some of the stories of how some of the horses and ponies came into care.  Thank you to Radio Leicester for their support.

Also on Saturday, volunteer Wendy took the New and Nearly-new equine stall to the Showjumping Day l at Vale View Equestrian Centre which raised a fabulous sum of £194.00!   A big thank you to Julie Hyslop and all of her customers for their continued support.  Wendy will be at Rearsby Lodge Riding Club at Brooksby College, Melton on Sunday 2nd November, weather permitting.

This year there is a Pablo’s Christmas Tree at the St Mary’s Christmas tree festival which will be on view from Thursday for the follow 5 days.  Thank you to volunteers Jenny and Isobelle for decorating the tree and to Jenny’s husband, Bob, for purchasing the tree.

Don’t forget the Pablo’s Christmas Tombola stall is being held at the Victorian Fair on Sunday 2nd December!  There’s some great Christmas presents to win!

Have a good week

A big thank you to Rebecca and all of the liveries for their continued support. Next Saturday, 24th November Wendy will be taking the stall to Vale View Equestrian Centre, Old Dalby from 9.00am until 3.00pm. Lily and Thomas with Arian looking on

Hi Everybody

All the horses and ponies are well, and have been enjoying this recent spell of warm weather during the daytime. Lily is still growing and has made friends with Thomas. They have spent a lot of time today mutually grooming each other and as you can see by the photos taken today, they were really enjoying themselves.

We would like to appeal for any hay that could be donated, to help the sanctuary during the coming winter months. As you may know, the price of hay remains very high and approx £80 is spent per day to keep the horses and ponies in hay. If you are able to donate some hay, even if it is a small amount, please get in touch.

Hi Everyone

Apologies for the delay in bringing your weekly blog of what’s been happening down at the yard…..here goes…

All the horses and ponies are well, and have got through the Firework Displays over Saturday night and Monday night with no problems despite the displays being quite close to them.

We are pleased to report that Lusty, one of our thoroughbred mares has been rehomed this week. Volunteer Emma has fostered Lusty, as well as 2 of the Dartmoor yearlings in August, and they are now living together in a lovely local field. We wish Emma and Lulu all the very best together.

This week, we would like to appeal for any rubble or hardcore that could be donated. Due to the recent rain the areas around the gateways have turned very muddy and are in need of a firmer surface, so if you have any hardcore that you could donate please get in touch.

We would also like to appeal for any water-proof turnout rug in sizes 6ft 3ins, 6ft 6ins, 6ft 9ins and 7ft for our larger horses, again if you could help please get in touch.
