Looking better for Winter

May and Lady

Hi there! well with Autumn very much upon us it has been essential to get as many preparations as possible ready for what we hope will be a much fairer winter than the last.

Certainly having our Sanctuary at the bottom of a very large hill has its disadvantages, drainage has been a long standing problem over the years as has sometimes volunteers just getting there! So a special thank you to all the volunteers over the years who have managed to risk the elements to help the Horses.

Its with very great thanks to Pets at Home and there funding of our winter project that we will be more looking a lot nicer this winter.

Our Awesome maintenance and upgrade team of Chris,Gerry and Tommy have slaved for months preparing us for the winter season. We would like to say a huge thank you to them and also Mark and Billy who gave up there whole weekend Free of charge to see our project realized.

Hopefully this will now mean no more puddles! thank you again to all involved your work and help has been priceless.

We are always desperate for volunteers in the winter months, so If you dont mind a bit of hard work and fancy giving us a whirl read more about us on the volunteering tab or contact us via Email or Carole on 07745-628684.

Silvers Gang

thank you to everyone for all there help and support!

loads of goods and fundraiser this Friday!

Lots of positive news to report this week and a couple of very very large thank you`s to two local businesses who have been so generous to us over the last few years.

Mars in the community have again kindly agreed to finance our public liability insurance which is something we really could not afford to fund but is priceless to us.Public liabilty insurance allows us to allow the general public to visit and work at Pablo`s without it being `at your own risk`.Thanks to Mars kindness we can reach out our charity to more and more people bringing our message and ideals to as many people as we can.

Pets at Home presenting cheque to Carole Fielding

Secondly a huge thank you to Pets at Home who most kindly donated to us £2,000 for much needed yard improvement and drainage works.Being at the bottom of a large hill certainly does have it`s disadvantages during those wet winter months but Pets at Home`s kindness will finally see this long dreamed project come to fruition. Also Pets at Home supplied us with a lot of wormers which we are highly thankful for(sorry Bella!).

We have a new arrival at the yard, she is a lovely 30 year old Chestnut mare named Lady whose owners could no longer afford to keep her and she came to us to save her from being put down.Lady has been very affable, making immmediate friends with Penny and she has since joined Silver`s gang where she appears to be very happy.I`ll post up some pics as soon as I get them!

It gives us great pleasure to say thank you to everyone, especially the times we can name the individuals. This time we would love to thank Bethany Baker and Maddy Green two young ladies(and Grandad!) who held a tombola for us at Sandy Lane Methodist church,Melton Mowbray and raised us £25,thank you so much for thinking of us!

our founder Carole Fielding has won an award, quietly spoken Carole won in the `make a difference in the community `section. We are very proud of this accolade that we are able to work hand in hand with local people and organizations, we really do see ourselves as integral to the local community and overjoyed to think you do also! Pics should be in next weeks Melton Times

again a big thank you to Melton Mowbray`s community radio station 103-the Eye, Christine and the marvelous team have been awesome in all the help over the years in promoting our fundraisers and happy to make people aware of us,thank you so much.

Just a reminder that yes Christmas does get earlier every year what a nice present an adoption can be.Sponsoring one of our Horses or Ponies can make a terrific gift for people of any age as well as helping the long term future of the animals, all the money goes directly to there welfare.Do pop along to our `Sponsorship` page!

Dont forget this Friday(15th October) we have a superb fundraiser, we welcome the awesome Rolling Stones tribute band `Sticky Fingers`(supported by Melton`s own Nigel Baker). The band are at Melton Mowbray Working Mens club on Norman Way,tickets are just £5.00 on the door all welcome and the nights proceedings kick off at 8.00pm.As always we offer a great nights music all in a great cause, please come along and support us we really would love to see you!

Just to pass on a few pics we have of the hay arriving we were kindly donated by a farmer in Weston on Trent. With last winter being so harsh the price of Hay has soared through the roof and this winter was looking even bleaker financially, many farmers having hay only for there own animals. We now have a bright winter ahead of us,I hope to be writing of the improvements for this year in the forthcoming updates.

There are certainly quite some very very large thank you`s on the way to again the surge of interest we have had due to our re-appearance in the local media.

Thank you to everyone for there help!
