Poppy most sadly missed

We have some very sad news that our much loved old pony Poppy has left us to graze in the big paddock in the sky.Poppy was highly adored by us all and we miss her very much already.A lasting tribute to Poppy wrote by our owner and founder Carole Fielding can be found on our new section `Stories and Tributes`.

We are on the lookout for more stories and tributes for our new section,if you have been helped by us or touched by our work why not drop us a line? We hope to fill our new section with tales, stories and tributes to our Horses that will touch everyone who reads them.

A big thank you to the Harby Journal for there support and helping us promote our cause.

A big thank you again to everyone, you keep us going and we could not do it without you!

See the Horse Whisperer!

Well the poster more or less says it all, this is a great opportunity to see an internationally renowned Horse whisperer in action and a truly unmissable event.Any questions, queries you may have just use the `contact us` tab and we`ll be glad to help.

Our weekend stall at Hickling Fete was a very worthwhile and enjoyable exercise, not only did the weather remain terrific but we were joined by many of our volunteers all in good spirit and made plenty of new friends.Don`t forget we are at Melton Mowbray country fair on June 27th and Hosefest at Hose Village hall ground on July 3rd please come and see us!

Good luck to our super fit volunteer and  super muffin maker  Jan who we will be seeing not as much as now she has a great new job!

Work has started and coming along beautifully on some outdoor shelters.

We would like to promote the Great British Schools equestrian league, please follow the tab on this website for more information about this event and how to enter.

its not often we mention film stars but we would like to congratulate John Travolta and Kelly Preston on news of their forthcoming child.A couple of years ago a very kind supporter of ours wrote to many celebrities to raise our profile, one of the replies came from John and Kelly. Not only did we get a signed photo but a personal letter from them giving there home number and asking if they could help us in any way.Unfortunately tragedy struck their family and we didn’t follow up their offer, however we were very honored that such big stars would remember the `Little guy`.Since then we have Seen John and Kelly do much work in Haiti and we would like to wish them all the best.

The work at the yard now summer is in full flow is much easier,it does not seem like a week ago we were battling against the elements just to get here.Ive been asked by Carole to make a big thank you to all volunteers and helpers who kept us going over a very harsh winter. Also a big thank you to Amanda who regularly helps with our charity stall in Melton Mowbray on a Saturday.

Our old thoroughbred Arthur has joined fellow old boys Sid and Tappy in their paddock which is away from the main yard.Upon his arrival at his new surroundings he was instantly approved of and got his head down to eating the grass.

Our new lady Chanelle has now found a new soul mate in our ex racehorse Westie

Peggy

We have a new arrival her name is Peggy and she is in her mid twenties although she looks much younger. She was saved by us in the nick of time as she was going to have been put down that week.Peggy has already fitted in nicely she is no trouble and currently is grazing with Jubail`s gang.

One of our lovely volunteers Joanna is an experienced Therapeutic in the ancient Japanese art of Reiki. This technique can be used in conjunction with veterinary care to assist natural healing and balance in animals. If you would like to learn more about Reiki and its benefit`s why not give Joanna a call on 07731-683906 or 01159-899229.

A big thank you to Long Clawson village store who helped sell tickets for our successful fashion show and also Aquarius in Melton Mowbray.

New fundraisers on the way! I don’t have names and dates as yet but there will be a return of our musical evenings in Melton Mowbray shortly.Come and see some great music all in a good cause,i`ll be posting the details up in the next few days so keep coming back!

The hot weather and summer sees all our Horses and Ponies looking very well indeed. Its always nice to see our older animals looking well, our oldest resident Sidney still shooing his paddock mate Tappy near feed time and Polly and Poppy still so light on their feet in the field. Our venerable thoroughbred Arthur has improved greatly recently his coat looking much better, he tells us its down to the biscuits he mugs us for at Coffee time!

The Pony field is boasted in the summer by the constant playing of Winston,Jive,Malty and Minty.Hopefully one day we can capture them on film and show you how happy they are at play.

Again thank you so much to everybody who has helped us and continues to help us,we cannot thank you enough.

Arthur
